Frequently Asked Questions

  • No. Many children begin occupational therapy without a formal diagnosis. Support can be helpful when a child is struggling with regulation, sensory needs, attention, emotions, confidence, or participation in daily life.

  • I work with children through age 16 and their families.

  • A consultation is a 15-20 minutes conversation where we talk through your child’s needs, your concerns, and what support might be helpful. We’ll determine together whether OT, coaching, or a group program is the best fit.

  • Sessions are typically held in nature-based settings in the Seacoast, NH area, chosen at the time of scheduling.

When appropriate, sessions may also take place in your child’s home during inclement weather or when home-based support is most beneficial.

Caregiver coaching sessions are offered virtually or in person depending on your needs and location.

With school approval, I can also provide services in school settings to support participation and learning within your child’s daily environment.

  • Yes. Caregiver coaching can be accessed as a standalone service or alongside occupational therapy. It is designed to support parents/caregivers in problem solving and understanding regulation, sensory needs, and daily routines.

  • I am a private-pay provider and do not bill insurance directly. This allows for more individualized, flexible care that is guided by your child’s needs rather than insurance requirements.

Many families value this model because it supports a more responsive, relationship-based approach to care.

  • As an out-of-network provider, payment is made at the time of service. I provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement, depending on your plan.

This allows therapy to remain flexible and individualized while still giving families the option to seek reimbursement through their insurance benefits.

Please note that often a physician diagnosis is required prior to the date of service in order for insurance companies to process superbill reimbursement.

  • Yes, many families are able to use HSA or FSA funds for occupational therapy services. Eligibility depends on your specific plan, so it is always helpful to confirm with your provider.

  • Yes. I provide family-centered care, and caregivers are always welcome to be involved in sessions.

Depending on your child’s needs and comfort level, you may participate directly, observe, or remain nearby while your child engages in therapy. We can decide together what feels most supportive for your child and your family.

When sessions take place during the school day, I provide follow-up communication after the visit to share updates and next steps.

  • That is completely okay and something I work with regularly. Sessions are adapted to each child’s comfort level, and we move at a pace that supports regulation, safety, and gradual confidence-building in outdoor environments.

  • Forest Friends is a small, OT-led outdoor group where children build social and emotional skills through play, movement, and connection in nature. Groups are intentionally small to support regulation and individualized support within a shared experience.

  • Yes. I collaborate directly with teachers, school teams, and support staff to support a child’s participation, regulation, and learning within the school environment.

This may include classroom observation, consultation with educators, co-developing strategies, and providing in-school occupational therapy support when appropriate. The goal is to support meaningful participation in real time, within the child’s natural school routines.
